Heating, air conditioner - Edition 06.2017
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following:
– Check connection -3- of heat exchanger and connection of
coolant pipes -1- for damage or dirt.
– Clean and smooth sealing surface for seals.
– Moisten new seals -2- with coolant (or lubricate lightly with sil‐
icone grease) and fit them to coolant pipe -1-.
– Push coolant pipes into heat exchanger as far as stop.
NOTICE
Risk of heat exchanger malfunction due to defective seals and
leaks.
– Never pinch seals.
– Never cant coolant pipes.
– Slide on coolant pipes completely.
– Fit new screw-type clamps -2- on coolant pipe/heat exchanger
joint.
– Tighten bolts -1-.
– Check screw-type clips -2- for proper seating on connections
of heat exchanger and check coolant pipes. The coolant pipes
must not rest against air distribution housing or any other com‐
ponents.
– Install heater and air conditioning unit ⇒ page 122 .
– Read event memory and clear any entries displayed using
⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.
– Check operation of heater and air conditioning system.

– Release evaporator temperature sensor - G308- using remov‐
al wedge - 3409- .
– Pull evaporator temperature sensor - G308- -1- out of housing.
– Separate electrical connector.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.

– Release evaporator temperature sensor - G308- -2- using re‐
moval wedge - 3409- .
– Pull evaporator temperature sensor - G308- -2- out of housing.
– Separate electrical connector -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.

– Remove right centre console trim in footwell ⇒ General body
repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 68 ; Centre console; Assembly over‐
view - centre console .
– Carefully fold back floor covering in area of condensation drain
hose so that condensation drain hose is visible.
– Lug -arrow- on connecting piece must engage in guide -2-.
