Removing and installing water deflector  
Note  
Removal and installation are described only for the left side. Removal and installation of the right side are  
similar.  
Removing  
– Starting at bottom end, pull water deflector -1- out of clip -3-  
and retaining strip -2-.  
Installing  
– Position upper inner edge of water deflector -1- on upper edge  
of windscreen.  
– Press water deflector -1- from above into retaining strip -2- and  
clip -3-.  
– Fit contact lip between water deflector and windscreen behind  
window.

Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Adhesive strip remover - VAS 6349-  
♦ Covers or chrome strips in covers cannot be removed intact.  
Various versions, for allocation see β‡’ Electronic parts cata‐  
logue (ETKA) .  
♦ If a cover is installed for the first time on a new vehicle or on  
newly painted surfaces, the procedure in β‡’ Workshop manual  
β€œPaint”; β‡’ Paintwork repairs; β‡’ Paint finish; β‡’ Mouldings & film  
should be observed.  
♦ If a cover is removed and reinstalled, use only adhesivelkre‐  
mover to remove the adhesive residue in the installation area.  
♦ Remove existing adhesive residue of adhesive tape using ad‐  
hesive strip remover - VAS 6349- .  
♦ Ensure that the adhesive surfaces are free of dust and grease.  
♦ The cover must be bonded in place immediately following  
cleaning.  
♦ Remove protective film immediately before installation.  
♦ Working temperature is approx. 21 Β°C.

Removing  
Note  
♦ The removal and installation procedures for front door cover may have to be revised slightly depending on  
model variations.  
♦ The removal and installation sequence is for the front left door cover only. Removal and installation of the  
front door cover on the right are similar.  
– Unscrew bolts -5- on inner side of door -4-.  
– Heat up cover in area of bonding surfaces -6- using hot air  
blower - V.A.G 1416- .  
– Pull off cover -1- from door until bond of adhesive tape is re‐  
leased.  
– Pull cover further out of grommets -2- -arrows a-.  
– Pull cover -1- downwards -arrows b- from door.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order, noting the following:

Follow installation instructions β‡’ page 357 .  
– Check grommets -3- and clips -2- for damage, and renew them  
if necessary.  
– Push cover -1- from below onto door -4- -arrows a-.  
– Press cover -1- with clips -2- into grommets -3- -arrows b-.  
– Pull off protective film -6- from adhesive tape -7-.  
– Press on cover -1- forcefully in area of adhesive tape sections  
-7-.  
– Tighten bolts -5- on inner side of door.

Install in reverse order, noting the following:  
Follow installation instructions β‡’ page 357 .  
– Check grommets -3- and clips -2- for damage, and renew them  
if necessary.  
– Push cover -1- from below onto door -5- -arrows a-.  
– Press cover -1- with clips -2- into grommets -3- -arrows b-.  
– Pull off protective film -6- from adhesive tape -7-.  
– Press on cover -1- forcefully in area of adhesive tape sections

– Tighten bolts -4- on inner side of door.

– Pull window channel -3- in area of B-pillar trim-1- out of door  
frame.

– Push B-pillar trim -1- downwards and pull off door frame.  
– Pull out B-pillar trim -1- upwards.  
Installing  
– Position B-pillar trim -1- on door frame.  
– Guide in B-pillar trim -1- at bottom and fit it in place.  
– Push B-pillar trim -1- upwards until it is in contact with window  
channel -3-.  
– Hook in spreader rivet -2- from top to bottom and insert window  
channel -3- into B-pillar trim.

– Pull window channel -3- in area of B-pillar trim-1- out of door  
frame.  
– Unclip spreader rivets -2-.  
– Push B-pillar trim -1- downwards and pull off door frame.  
– Pull out B-pillar trim -1- upwards.  
Installing  
– Insert B-pillar trim -1- on door frame.  
– Fit B-pillar trim -1- in longitudinal holes -4- in frame section.  
– Position B-pillar trim -1- and push until stop.

– Push B-pillar trim -1- upwards until it is in contact with window  
channel -3-.  
– Hook in spreader rivet -2- from top to bottom and insert window  
channel -3- into B-pillar trim.

– Heat sill panel trim -1- using hot air blower - V.A.G 1416- , and  
pull it off sill.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order, noting the following:  
– Installation notes β‡’ page 367 .  
– Pull off backing.  
– Align front end of outer sill panel trim -1- with front end of inner  
sill panel trim -arrows-.

– Make sure that dimension -a- of 12 mm between metal flange  
and sill panel trim is adhered to over the entire length of the  
sill panel trim.  
– Smooth down using plastic scraper with paper towel wrapped  
around it.

bumper cover -arrows b-.

– Before removing, heat wheel housing trim -1- in area of bond‐  
ing surface -3- with hot air blower - V.A.G 1416- .  
– Carefully guide removal wedge - 3409- between wheel hous‐  
ing trim -1- and wheel arch cover -2-.  
– As soon as bonded joint -3- comes loose, unclip wheel housing  
trim -1- from wheel arch cover -2-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order, noting the following:

Installing
