Removing and installing rear panel seal  
Removing  
– Remove rear glass panel β‡’ page 220 .  
– Pull off seal in side area -4- of rear glass panel -1- to side  
-arrow b-.  
– Pull off seal in front area -3- of rear glass panel -1- upwards  
-arrow a-.  
Installing  
– To ensure that seal slides into mounting bracket more easily,  
it is sprayed with a soap and water solution.  
– Press seal in front area -3- from above into glass panel mount‐  
ing bracket -1-.

– Press seal in side area -4- into glass panel mounting bracket

– Remove assembly frame β‡’ page 247 .  
– Pull exterior seal -1- with bonding area -3- from roof -2-.  
Installing

– Remove existing adhesive residues with adhesive strip re‐  
mover - VAS 6349- .  
– Entire bonding surface on roof cut-out must be free of dust and  
grease.  
– Clean complete bonding area with cleaning solution - D 009  
401 04- .  
– Prime bonding areas on roof cut-out using plastic primer - D  
366 PR1 A1- .  
– Observe flash-off time of 10 minutes.  
– Centre new exterior seal -1- with joint -arrows- to centre of rear  
roof cut-out.  
– Pull protective film from adhesive tape -3- and press seal onto  
roof -2-.  
– If the exterior seal is excessively long, any excess length is  
evenly compressed.  
– Press exterior seal on firmly and evenly 2x around circumfer‐  
ence using roller - 3356- .  
– Install assembly frame β‡’ page 247 .

Removing and installing wind deflector  
Removing  
– Open front glass panel completely.  
– Using a screwdriver -2-, lift out retaining hook from frame  
-arrow a-.  
– Push wind deflector -1- towards front as far as stop  
-arrows b-.  
– Lift out wind deflector from installation frame.  
Installing

– Position wind deflector -1- with retaining hooks in holes.  
– Push wind deflector backwards until retaining hooks engage  
audibly in frame.

– Removing lights and front operating unit β‡’ Electrical system;  
Rep. gr. 96 ; Lights and switches in roof trim .  
– Unscrew bolts -3-.  
– Lower sliding roof motor -1- slightly and tilt out to rear.  
– Separate electrical connector -2-.  
Installing

With front glass panel removed:  
– Push tilt mechanism fully forwards on both sides until it is  
completely lowered.  
– Install sunroof motor -1- and tighten bolts -3-.  
– Fit electrical connector -2-.  
– Install moulded headliner β‡’ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 70 ; Roof trim .  
Note  
♦ After the motor has been replaced, a basic setting must be performed.  
♦ The roll-back function is disabled during the basic setting process.  
♦ The basic setting is carried out with the β‡’ Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Removing

– Remove front glass panel β‡’ page 216 .  
– Remove rear glass panel β‡’ page 220 .  
– Remove assembly frame β‡’ page 247 .  
– Separate electrical connector -4- on roller blind motor -1-.  
– Unscrew bolts -2-.

– Remove sunroof roller blind motor -1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order, noting the following:  
– Before installing roller blind motor, roller blind must be aligned  
parallel.  
– Measure and adjust distance -dimension a- between blind  
brace -1- and blind cassette -2-.  
Note  
♦ After the motor has been replaced, a basic setting must be  
performed.  
♦ The roll-back function is disabled during the basic setting proc‐  
ess.  
♦ The basic setting is carried out with the β‡’ Vehicle diagnostic  
tester.

Note  
The sunroof roller blind control unit - J394- is integrated in the  
sliding sunroof adjustment control unit - J245- .

Removing  
– Remove moulded headliner β‡’ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 70 ; Roof trim .

In the event of power failure, the sunroof sun blind can be moved by turning the sunroof sun blind motor with  
a commercially available hexagon key to removal position (fully open). β‡’ page 260  
– Move sun blind to fully open position -arrows-.

– Push roller blind -2- completely towards rear -arrow a- parallel  
by hand.  
– Tilt roller blind at front and lift out of assembly frame

– Guide roller blind into assembly frame from above at an angle.  
– Pull roller blind -2- into guide rails parallel by hand.
