– Remove existing adhesive residues with adhesive strip re‐  
mover - VAS 6349- .  
– Entire bonding surface on roof cut-out must be free of dust and  
grease.  
– Clean complete bonding area with cleaning solution - D 009  
401 04- .  
– Prime bonding areas on roof cut-out using plastic primer - D  
366 PR1 A1- .  
– Observe flash-off time of 10 minutes.  
– Centre new exterior seal -1- with joint -arrows- to centre of rear  
roof cut-out.  
– Pull protective film from adhesive tape -3- and press seal onto  
roof -2-.  
– If the exterior seal is excessively long, any excess length is  
evenly compressed.  
– Press exterior seal on firmly and evenly 2x around circumfer‐  
ence using roller - 3356- .  
– Install assembly frame β‡’ page 247 .

– Using a screwdriver -2-, lift out retaining hook from frame

– Push wind deflector -1- towards front as far as stop

With front glass panel removed:  
– Push tilt mechanism fully forwards on both sides until it is  
completely lowered.  
– Install sunroof motor -1- and tighten bolts -3-.  
– Fit electrical connector -2-.  
– Install moulded headliner β‡’ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 70 ; Roof trim .  
Note  
♦ After the motor has been replaced, a basic setting must be performed.  
♦ The roll-back function is disabled during the basic setting process.  
♦ The basic setting is carried out with the β‡’ Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Installing  
Install in reverse order, noting the following:  
– Before installing roller blind motor, roller blind must be aligned  
parallel.  
– Measure and adjust distance -dimension a- between blind  
brace -1- and blind cassette -2-.  
Note  
♦ After the motor has been replaced, a basic setting must be  
performed.  
♦ The roll-back function is disabled during the basic setting proc‐  
ess.  
♦ The basic setting is carried out with the β‡’ Vehicle diagnostic  
tester.

– Remove moulded headliner β‡’ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 70 ; Roof trim .  
– Pull water drain hoses from fittings.  
– Disconnect connector to wiring harness on sliding roof motor.  
– Unscrew bolts -2- for assembly frame -1- and lift assembly  
frame out of vehicle with the help of at least a second me‐  
chanic.

– Lift assembly frame -1- into vehicle with the help of at least a  
second mechanic.  
– When bolting assembly frame -1-, use 2 cylindrical pins (re‐  
versed drill bits βˆ… 10 mm) to centre at front and rear centring  
holes -arrows- and to roof.  
– Screw in bolts -2-, but do not tighten.  
– Connect all water drain hoses -3-.

– Tighten numbered bolts following the specified sequence  
-1 to 9-.  
– Tighten remaining bolts -arrows- in any sequence.  
The remaining installation steps are carried out in the reverse se‐  
quence of removal.

♦ After the assembly frame has been replaced, a basic setting must be performed.  
♦ The roll-back function is disabled during the basic setting process.

frame -3- in -direction of arrow-.  
Installing  
– Remove existing adhesive residues with adhesive strip re‐  
mover - VAS 6349- .  
– Thoroughly clean bonded areas on rear section -1- and on  
assembly frame -3- with cleaning solution -D 009 401 04- .  
– Insert a 3.5 mm butyl adhesive sealing cord - AKD 497 010 04  
R10- βˆ… into bonding channel -5- on rear section -1-.  
– Push rear section -1- with followers -4- onto assembly frame  
-3-.  
– Tighten bolts -2-.

Before installation, checking assembly frame for leaks is recommended.  
– Seal water drain fitting -3-.  
– Fill marked area -4- between rear section -2- and assembly  
frame -5- with water.  
– Wait for at least 5 minutes and check for leaks.  
– Seal any leaks with butyl adhesive sealing cord - AKD 497 010

♦ In the event of power failure, front glass panel near to sliding sunroof motor can be moved by hand using a  
commercially available hexagon key.  
♦ Greater force is necessary since motor is not uncoupled from drive.  
♦ Front glass panel must only be moved manually until its front edge is flush with front edge of rear glass  
panel. If glass panel is moved further backwards, mechanism cables may hook off.  
– Removing lights and front operating unit β‡’ Electrical system;
