Removing
– Remove warning triangle.
– Remove upper rear lid trim ⇒ page 239 .
– Unscrew bolts -2-.
– Remove mounting for warning triangle.
– Unclip trim -4- from handle.
– Unscrew bolts -3-.
– Open service flaps at sides of trim -1-.
– Grasp in service holes in trim.
– With a »firm jerk«, release trim -1- from mountings in rear lid.
– Check if all retaining clips are inserted in trim -1-.
– Unclip any retaining clips left in rear lid using removal tool -
T40280- .
– Fit those retaining clips back in trim -1-.

– Detach retaining straps for rear shelf on left and right from
window frame.
– Release centre window frame -2- from mountings in rear lid
and side trim panels -3- using wedge - T10383- .
– Unclip centre window frame -2-.
– Release side window frame -3- from catches in rear lid and
lower rear lid trim -1- using wedge - T10383- .
– Remove side window frame -3-.

Vehicles with DC/AC converter with electric socket
WARNING
There is a danger of an electric shock.
♦ In the housing of the DC/AC converter with socket,
12 V - 230 V - U13- there are capacitors that may still be
charged with a residual voltage.
♦ Never open the housing of the DC/AC converter with sock‐
et, 12 V - 230 V - U13- .
♦ The connector, the wiring and the 230-V socket must nev‐
er be repaired.
♦ The complete unit must be renewed if the connector, the
wiring, the 230-V socket or the AC/DC converter are de‐
fective.

– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.
– Keep the ignition key outside the vehicle to prevent the ignition
from being switched on unintentionally.
– Press fasteners -1- in direction of arrows -A- and -B-, respec‐
tively.
– Pull socket -2- out of trim.
Continued for all vehicles
– Disconnect connectors, and detach luggage compartment
side trim.
Installing
Note
If the luggage compartment side trim is renewed, the new part
may need to be adapted using engineering methods.
Install in reverse order, noting the following:
Note
♦ Before installing, check all fasteners for damage and renew if
necessary.
♦ Remove any retaining clips left in body mountings using re‐
moval tool - T40280- , and fit them in luggage compartment
side trim for installation.
♦ Following installation, ensure that luggage compartment side
trim is positioned in rear lid seal beading.

– Remove luggage compartment floor towards rear.
– Detach lock carrier trim -1- from rear lid seal beading -2-.
– Release lock carrier trim -1- in area of retaining clips from body
mountings -arrows- using removal lever - 80 - 200- .
– Remove lock carrier trim -1- upwards.
Installing
Install in reverse order, noting the following:
Note
♦ Before installing, check all fasteners for damage and renew if
necessary.
♦ Remove any retaining clips left in body mountings using re‐
moval tool - T40280- and fit them in lock carrier trim for
installation.
♦ After having assembled the trim, use removal wedge - 3409-
to straighten the beading lip.
