Note
♦ The removal and installation procedure is described for the
interior door handle on the driver side. Follow same instruc‐
tions for the front passenger side as appropriate.
♦ The trim panel has to be renewed.
Removing
– Remove rear door trim ⇒ page 164 .
– Remove trim panel ⇒ page 159 .
Caution
The door trim must not be damaged when drilling.
– Using a suitable drill bit, drill through mounting points -2- of
interior door handle -4- in door trim panel until interior door
handle starts to become detached from door trim panel.
– Carefully release interior door handle -4- from door trim panel.
Installing
Clamping washers near interior door handle: qty. 4,
12.8 mm × 7.85 mm. Allocation ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue

– Insert new interior door handle -4- in door trim panel.
– Press clamping washers onto pins of interior door handle as
far as they will go.

– Cut down pins above clamping washers -2- to a projection of
2 to 3 mm.
This will prevent the pins from making contact with the inner door
panel.
– Install new trim panel ⇒ page 159 .

Removing
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw
ignition key.
– Lever upper part of handle recess -1- out of mountings in door
trim, using removal wedge - 3409- .
– Unscrew bolts -1-.

– Release rotary clip -1- using a 10 mm open-end spanner or a

Torx screwdriver T30 by turning it 90° ( / turn) in

-direction of arrow-.

Rotary clip -arrow- is released.
– Detach retaining clips -2- of door trim -1- from mountings using
wedges - T10383- . Clip -3- has already been released.

– Pull door trim -1- upwards vertically out of window slot seal.
– Disconnect the electrical plug-in connections from the door
trim -1- in accordance with the vehicle's equipment.
– Unhook Bowden cable -1- from inner door handle.
Installing
Note
Before installing, check all fasteners for damage and renew if
necessary.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– Insert retaining clips into rear door trim.

Caution
Before installing door trim, ensure that the locking mechanisms
of all clips are in -position 1-.
It is not possible to install the door trim without problem if clips
are in -position 2-!

Removing
– Remove rear door trim ⇒ page 164 .
– Using an appropriate drill bit, drill mounting points -3- of trim
panel -1- off door trim just enough for the trim panel starting to
detach from door trim.
Caution
The door trim must not be damaged when drilling.
– Carefully release mounting points -3- one after the other, and
detach trim panel -1- from door trim.
Installing
Clamping washers near trim strip: qty. 7, 12.8 mm × 7.85 mm.
Allocation ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue .
– Insert new trim panel -1- into door trim.
– Press clamping washers -3- onto pins of trim panel as far as
they will go.
– Cut back pins -3- of trim panel above clamping washers to
max. 2 mm projection.
– Install front door trim ⇒ page 164 .
