VW Tiguan 2021 Owner's Manual ➜ Navigation

If the exact destination cannot be reached because,
for example, it is in a non-digitized area, the
Navigation
announcement is made that the destination area has
been reached. Indications about the direction and
Introduction to the topic
distance of the destination are also shown on the
screen.
A global navigation satellite system determines the
current position of the vehicle. All measured values
and possible traffic information bulletins are compared
with the available maps to allow optimal navigation to
the destination.
During dynamic route guidance, traffic incidents on
the route are warned. If the route is recalculated, for
example due to a traffic jam or a change in driving
style, an additional announcement will be played ÿ p.
275.
Navigation management is done on the screen.
While a navigation announcement is playing, you can
mute or adjust its volume.
The navigation announcements and the displayed
graphics guide you to your destination.
The following navigation announcements will be played
with the adjusted volume or muted.
Depending on the country, some functions of the
infotainment system will not be available on the screen
from a certain speed. This is not a malfunction, but
rather due to compliance with legal provisions.
Navigation announcements are not broadcast if
the sound is muted in the infotainment system.
Limitations while browsing
WARNING
If the infotainment system cannot receive data from
GPS satellites, for example in a tunnel or underground
garage, navigation continues using the vehicle's sensors.
Only carry out settings, destination entry and changes
for navigation when the vehicle is stationary.
If you miss a turnoff during route guidance, the
navigation may recalculate the route.
In areas that are not digitized or with incomplete
digitization in the infotainment system's memory, the
infotainment system continues to try to make route
guidance possible.
The quality of the driving advice issued
depends on the available navigation data and
the traffic delays that have been received.
In the event of missing or incomplete navigation data,
it may not be possible to determine the exact position
of the vehicle. This can cause navigation to not be as
accurate as usual.
Traffic reports will only be issued on the
navigation system if the available We Connect

modifications, for example, new streets, works, closure
of roads to traffic, changes in street names and building
numbers. If the navigation data is out of date, it can lead

Leave the USB data carrier connected for a
couple of days with the infotainment system,
until the navigation data for the regions you are driving
in has been downloaded and installed. The installation
runs automatically in the background on the fly.
Otherwise, the update process will be cancelled.
In order to carry out route guidance correctly and to
be able to take full advantage of the functions offered,
the infotainment system always needs current data.
If you remove the data carrier and drive in a new
region in offline mode, the navigation data will not be
updated due to lack of USB data carrier and Internet
connection.

If you use outdated data, errors may occur during
navigation. Current routes will not be able to be traced
