mently.
— The brake lights on the electrically connected trailer work
perfectly.
· Always be prepared to regulate the speed yourself. If you
are driving without any active guided route, if you leave
the route calculated by the navigation system, or if the
position of the vehicle cannot be determined correctly
because the GPS does not provide accurate data, the
speed may change unexpectedly and suddenly. or that it
does not adapt to the current traffic situation.
— The ESC is not regulating.
— The brake pedal is not depressed.
Unusual noises during automatic braking
These noises are normal and are not indicative of any
abnormality.
· Always use current navigation data.
pre-speed regulation
· Always keep in mind the maximum speed allowed. In the
case of speed limitations that are not included in the
navigation data, the maximum permissible speed may be
exceeded.
Introduction to the topic
Please also note the safety-relevant information
regarding ACC.
Pre-speed control adapts the speed to the detected speed
limitations and the road layout, e.g. e.g. curves, junctions,
roundabouts, etc.
Limitations of anticipatory speed
regulation
Pre-speed regulation is an additional function of ACC and uses
the traffic sign detection system ÿ p. 37 and the navigation data
from the infotainment system.

at the beginning of this chapter,
In case of regulation due to a speed limitation, the detected
speed will be saved as the new desired speed. In the event of
regulation due to the layout of the road, then the vehicle will
accelerate again and the speed that was saved will be regulated.
A message is displayed stating that anticipatory speed
regulation is not currently available or offered in your
country.
1. If this message is displayed for a long time and anticipatory
speed regulation is available in your country, go to an
appropriately qualified specialist workshop. Volks wagen
recommends a Volkswagen dealer.

located at the front of the vehicle. The range of this sensor is
approx. 120 m (400 ft).
Emergency braking assistant
(Front Assist)
WARNING
The intelligent technology of Front Assist cannot overcome the
limits imposed by physical laws and only works within the limits
of the system.
Introduction to the topic
Never let the increased comfort provided by Front Assist
induce you to take any risk that compromises safety. The
Front As sist cannot prevent accidents or serious injuries by
itself. The driver is always responsible for all driving tasks.
The emergency braking assistant (Front Assist) can
detect a risk of collision at the front and warn about it. In
addition, the system can assist in braking and cause
automatic braking.
· Always adapt the speed and the safety distance with respect
to the preceding vehicle depending on the visibility, weather,
road and traffic conditions.
Front Assist can help prevent accidents, but it cannot replace
the driver's attention.
· Please note that Front Assist cannot detect all objects in
the entire speed range ÿ p. 194.
Front Assist only works within the limitations of the system. The
timing of the warning varies depending on the traffic situation
and the behavior of the driver.
· If Front Assist issues a warning, brake the vehicle immediately
or drive around the obstacle, depending on traffic conditions.
functions
· Front Assist may intervene inopportunely, e.g. e.g., if its
functioning is impaired. Therefore, if necessary, consider
the possibility of interrupting the automatic interventions of
Front Assist.
Depending on equipment and country, the Front As syst
includes the following extended functions:
— Pedestrian detection system
The mentioned functions are automatically active (if equipped)
when Front Assist is activated.
· If you are unsure about the functions your vehicle is
equipped with, ask a suitably qualified specialist workshop
for information before setting off. Volkswagen recommends
detectable objects
a Volkswagen dealer.
Depending on the equipment and the country, the Front As
syst can detect the following objects:
- Vehicles
— Two-wheeled vehicles
Warning levels and brake assistance
— Pedestrians
