1. Clean the on-board tools and put them back
in the foam element in the luggage
compartment.
Please note on
page 368.
,at the beginning of this chapter,
2. Store the changed wheel safely in the trunk.
remove a wheel
3. Have the wheel bolt torque checked immediately
ÿ p. 369.
4. Have the damaged wheel replaced
sooner.
WARNING
Improperly tightened or mishandled wheel bolts
could result in loss of vehicle control, an accident
and serious injury.
Keep the wheel bolts and holes
threads of the wheel hubs always clean, free of
oil and grease. The screws must be easy to
unscrew and screw in and must be tightened to
the prescribed torque.

Introduction to the topic
3. Screw the anti-theft wheel bolt clockwise into the
correct position with the adapter and tighten it
slightly ÿ p. 369.
With the puncture repair kit it is possible to effectively
temporarily seal tire damage up to approx. 4 mm in
diameter caused by a foreign object or puncture. Do
not remove the object stuck in the tire, e.g. e.g. a
screw or a nail!
4. Screw in all other wheel bolts clockwise and
tighten lightly.
5. Lower the vehicle with the jack.
After the sealant has been inserted into the tyre,
be sure to recheck the tire pressure after about 10
minutes of driving and adjust it.
6. Securely tighten all bolts with the wheel spanner
clockwise ÿ .
When doing so, do not proceed in a circle,
but in a cross, always moving to the opposite screw.
If the vehicle has more than one damaged tire,
seek help from a suitably qualified specialized
workshop. Volkswagen recommends a Volkswagen
dealer. The puncture repair kit has only been
designed to seal a tire.
7. Fit the caps and the central or integral hubcap ÿ

puncture repair kit
Only use the puncture repair kit if the vehicle is
properly parked and you are familiar with the
necessary operations and safety measures!
Otherwise, seek help from a suitably qualified
specialist workshop. Volkswagen recommends a
Volkswagen dealer.
· Keep the puncture repair kit out of the reach
of children.
· If you use the puncture repair kit, never raise the
vehicle with a jack, even if it is approved for the
vehicle.
WARNING
Do not use the tire sealant in the following
cases:
A tire repaired with the sealant does not have the
same running properties as a conventional tire.
— If the rim is damaged.
— If the outdoor temperature is below -20 °C
(-4°F).
· Never drive faster than 80 km/h (50 mph).
Avoid accelerating, braking and taking the
cornering at high speed.
— If the cut or puncture in the tire is more than 4
mm in diameter.
Drive only 10 minutes at 80 km/h
— If you have driven with very low pressure or with
a deflated tire.
(50 mph) maximum; then check the tire.
— If the expiration date on the sealant bottle
for tires has expired.
Once the sealant has been used or expired,
dispose of it in accordance with legal provisions.
— If any foreign body stuck in the tire has been
removed.
Bottles of sealant can be purchased in duly
qualified specialized workshops.
two. Volkswagen recommends a Volkswagen
dealer.
— In combination with run-flat tyres.
Run-flat tires are identified by the “Seal” inscription
on the outer side.
Observe the puncture repair kit manufacturer's
instruction manual.
WARNING
Using the puncture repair kit can be dangerous,
especially if the tire is filled at the edge of the road.
To reduce the risk of serious injury, consider the
following: · Stop the vehicle as soon as possible

· Make sure the ground is level and firm.
The puncture repair kit is located in the boot, under
the floor covering.
· All occupants, and especially children, must
always be located at a safe distance and out of
the work area.
· Switch on emergency flashers to warn other
road users.
· Only use the puncture repair kit if you are familiar
with the necessary operations. Otherwise, seek
help from a suitably qualified specialist workshop.
Volkswagen recommends a Volkswagen dealer.
· Use the puncture repair kit only in an
emergency to reach the nearest duly qualified
specialist workshop. Volkswagen recommends
a Volkswagen dealer.
· Immediately order the replacement of the
tire repaired with the puncture repair kit.

could result.
Instead of the air discharge screw there may be
a key on the air compressor.

· When the air compressor and inflation tube are hot,
do not place them on flammable materials.
· Before storing the device, let it cool down.
WARNING
If the damaged tire cannot be sufficiently sealed with the
puncture repair kit, the tire will lose air while driving. As a
result, the tire could fail, vehicle control could be lost, and
accidents, serious injury, or death could result.
· If a minimum pressure of 2.0 bar (29 psi/200 kPa)
cannot be reached, it means that the tire is too
damaged. In this case, the sealant will not be able
to seal the tire. Stop driving and seek help from a
duly qualified specialized workshop. Volkswagen
recommends a Volkswagen dealer.
· Do not continue driving if the tire pressure is 1.3 bar
(19 psi/130 kPa) or less after 10 minutes of driving.
Instead, seek help from a suitably qualified
specialist workshop. Volkswagen recommends a

WARNING
Switch off the air compressor after a maximum of 8 minutes,
otherwise it will overheat!
Let the compressor cool down for a few minutes before
use it again.
