Indications in the infotainment system
To familiarize yourself with the parking systems and
their functions, Volkswagen recommends practicing
your driving in a place without too much traffic or in a car park.
The selection of possible settings varies depending on the
country, the equipment in question and the equipment of
the vehicle.
The approach of the vehicle to an obstacle is represented

in the infotainment system with segments and is supplemented
by acoustic signals. The indication may vary depending on the
situation.
General information
In order for the sensors and cameras to capture the vehicle's
surroundings as well as possible and be able to display it in
the infotainment system, the following requirements must be
met: ÿ The doors and the tailgate are closed

Activate and deactivate the automatic intervention on the
brakes
After an emergency braking by the parking exit assistant,
10 seconds must elapse before another automatic
intervention of the brakes can take place.

Problems and solutions
The parking system behaves differently than expected
Brake function when maneuvering the parking aid
There can be several causes:
1. Depress the accelerator pedal briefly to interrupt the automatic
intervention of the brakes ÿ .
— System requirements are not met ÿ p. 209.
— The sensors or camera are dirty or have
ice ÿ p. 385.
The automatic intervention of the brakes in the event of an
obstacle to the front does not take place when the parking aid
has been activated automatically while driving forward ÿ p. 214.
— The camera lens is not clean and the image from the
camera is not clear ÿ p. 385.
— Some noise sources, such as a jackhammer
cobbled road, interfere with the ultrasound signal.
Maneuvering with the trailer maneuvering assistant
(Trailer Assist)
— The vehicle has some type of damage in the area of the
sensors or the camera, e.g. e.g., due to a bump when parking.
An automatic intervention of the brakes may occur in the
following situations:
— The speed is exceeded.
— The detection zone of the sensors or the field of view of the
camera are blocked by some accessory, e.g. For example,
a bicycle rack system.
— The driver intervenes in the direction.
— The driver's door is open.
— The key is pressed.
— Modifications have been made to the painting
or structural changes in the area of the sensors or the
camera, e.g. e.g. at the front of the vehicle or on the running

Depending on the equipment and certain conditions,
e.g. For example, depending on the weather conditions or
the load or inclination of the vehicle, the parking assist system
can brake the vehicle automatically when faced with an
obstacle. The driver then has to depress the brake pedal.
When the system automatically intervenes on the brakes,
the parking maneuver ends.
