Trailer Maneuvering Assistant
(Trailer Assist)
Introduction to the topic
Trailer Maneuvering Assist assists the driver when
reversing a trailer.
Trailer Maneuvering Assist steers a trailer in the
direction that the driver sets using the rotary knob for
adjusting the exterior mirrors. The driver applies the
accelerator and brake pedal ΓΏ .
The trailer maneuvering assistant calculates the
necessary data with the help of the reversing assistant

Adapting the system to the
trailer Every time the towing vehicle and trailer
combination is changed, the system must be adapted to the trailer.
Doing so determines the length of the drawbar again:
1. Hitch up the single or double axle trailer and electrically
connect it to the vehicle
2. Perform several and, if possible, different turning maneuvers
and curvy paths with the trailer.
The more accurately the length of the lance can
be determined, the more angles will be available
when maneuvering.

rotary control on the driver's door.
The angle indicator has a maximum of four end stops:
approx. 30Β°, 45Β°, 60Β° and 75Β°.
Requirements
The following prerequisites must also be met in order to use
the trailer maneuvering assistant:
ΓΏ The trailer with non-articulated axles is correctly hitched.
ΓΏ The tongue of the trailer is not covered. ΓΏ The
towing vehicle and trailer combination is in
had.
ΓΏ The driver's door and the tailgate
they are closed.

serious injuries and vehicle damage.
2. Release the steering wheel ΓΏ .
3. Tilt the rotary knob to the desired direction. A
representation of the towing vehicle and trailer
combination in the current position appears on
the instrument panel screen as an orientation ΓΏ

2. Turn the exit assistant on or off
parking.
The maneuver ends when a message to this effect
appears on the instrument panel display and, if
necessary, an acoustic signal sounds.
This setting can be saved in personalization
function user accounts and can therefore be
automatically changed when switching user accounts ΓΏ
p. 40.
WARNING
Rapid turns of the steering wheel can cause
serious injury.
Functioning
Β· Do not hold the steering wheel during the maneuver
while the system does not indicate it.
Β· If a dangerous situation occurs, intervene and take
over the direction.
When trailer shunting assist is active, the
door mirrors cannot be adjusted ΓΏ p. 129.
While Trailer Shunt Assist is active, the
vehicle will not be able to travel faster than
approx. 6 km/h (4 mph).
