Install a roof rack
If you are not sure whether the vehicle is designed for the
installation of a roof rack, consult an appropriately qualified
specialist workshop. Volkswagen recommends a Volks wagen
dealer.

For safety reasons, it is necessary to use special roof racks to
transport luggage, bicycles, surfboards, skis and boats. Suitable
accessories can be purchased from Volkswagen dealers.
Only use roof racks approved by Volkswagen for this vehicle.
If the vehicle is not approved for the use of a roof rack, do not use
one or install one afterwards.

When heavy or large objects are transported in the roof rack,

Check fixing
After mounting the roof rack, take a short drive
and then check all fasteners. Repeat this check at
regular intervals.

Exceeding the maximum permissible roof load

Always assemble the structures correctly

Always find out the weight of the roof rack and the
load you are going to transport. If necessary, weigh
the load.
If a roof rack with a lower load capacity is used, it
will not be possible to take full advantage of the
authorized load. In this case, only load the luggage
rack up to the weight limit stated in the manufacturer's
assembly instructions.
