Disconnect jumper cables  
1. If the dipped beam is on, turn it off before disconnecting the  
jumper cables.  
2. Connect the fan of the air conditioner or the system  
heating and ventilation issue and turn on the heated rear  
window of the vehicle with the discharged 12 volt battery

Β· Connect the connection cables in the correct order: first the  
positive cable, and then the negative cable.  
The tow bar is safer for towing and prevents damage to the  
vehicle.

the rear light assemblies, the rear window side

Never allow the vehicle to be towed without

Β· When towing, never switch off the ignition with  
the start/start button. Otherwise, the electronic  
steering column lock could suddenly engage.  
The vehicle could no longer be steered. This  
could cause an accident, serious injury and loss  
of control of the vehicle.  
Instructions for towing

During towing, the towed vehicle can signal the  
change of direction even if the hazard warning lights

fully depress the clutch pedal or place the gear  
lever in neutral.  
Towed vehicle (behind)  
1. Make sure the ignition is on so that the steering  
wheel does not lock and so that you can use the  
direction indicators and wiper if necessary.  
β€” The selector lever of the automatic transmission  
cannot be placed in the N position.  
2. Release the electronic parking brake.  
β€” Parking brake cannot be released  
electronic.  
3. The brake booster and power steering only work  
when the engine is running. Otherwise, the brake  
pedal will have to be depressed considerably more

the vehicle transported without the wheels touching

dealer.  
5. Disengage gear.  
6. Select gear N position .  
WARNING  
Never attach the tow cable or tow bar to axle  
or undercarriage components. They could be  
damaged and could cause an accident and  
serious injury.  
Tow  
Request the help of specialized personnel and,  
If necessary, have the vehicle transported on a  
crane.

Fasten the cable or the towbar only at the points  
provided for it:  
WARNING  
The vehicle can only be towed if the state of  
charge of the 12 volt battery is sufficient and the  
electronic parking brake and the steering column  
lock can be disengaged.

If the vehicle loses power or there is a fault in the  
electrical system, the engine may have to be started  
or the drive system switched on using the starting aid  
in order to deactivate the electronic parking brake

2. Press on the side of the cover (arrow) to release

3. Remove the cover and let it hang from the vehicle.  
4. Screw the towing eye into the socket.

recommends a Volkswagen dealer.
