WARNING
Danger of serious head injury. If people taller
than 1.60 m (approx. 63 inches) travel in the third
row of seats, they could sustain serious head injuries
in an accident.
Introduction to the topic
Number of seats
The vehicle has 5 or 7 seats depending on the
equipment.
· Never transport anyone with a height
greater than 1.60 m (approx. 63 inches) in the
third row of seats.
All seats are equipped with a seat belt.

Sitting in the wrong position considerably reduces
the protective function of the seat belt and can result
in serious or even fatal injuries. The risk of serious or
fatal injury is particularly increased if a deploying
airbag strikes an improperly seated vehicle occupant.
The driver is responsible for all persons, especially
children, transported in the vehicle.
WARNING
Sitting in the wrong position in the vehicle can
increase the risk of serious injury or death in the
event of a sudden stop, sudden maneuvering,
collision or accident, and if the air bags deploy.

positioning of the seat belt and correct adjustment of the

· Before starting the journey, all the occupants
must always sit in the correct position and
maintain it throughout the journey. This also
applies to putting on the seat belt.
The correct positions for the driver and passengers
are indicated below.
Those people who cannot adopt a correct position
due to some physical condition should consult a
duly qualified specialized workshop about the
possibility of making special modifications. The seat
belt and airbags only offer optimal protection if you
sit in the correct position. Volkswagen recommends
going to a Volkswagen dealer for this.
· Never transport a number of people greater than
the number of seats with the vehicle's seat belt.
· Never tilt the seat back excessively backwards.
· While walking, always keep your feet on the
footrest area. Never put them on, e.g. For
example, on the seat or on the instrument panel
and never take them out of the window.
Otherwise, the airbag and the seat belt will not
only be unable to offer any protection, but may
also increase the risk of

— Adjust the head restraint so that the top edge of
the head restraint is level with the top of the
head, but never below the eyes. Always keep
the back of your head as close as possible to the
headrest ÿ fig. 28.
Introduction to the topic
In a sudden stop or accident, properly positioned
seat belts keep the occupants of the vehicle in the
correct position, offering them the maximum possible
protection.
— If you are short, lower the headrest as far as it
will go even if your head is below the top edge
of the headrest.
WARNING
— If you are tall, raise the headrest as far as it will
go.
Not wearing a seat belt or wearing it incorrectly
can increase the risk of serious injury or death.
— Always keep your feet on the footrest area.
— Fasten and put on the seat belt as
correctly ÿ p. 44.
· Before starting the walk, always sit down

· Before starting out and during the journey, secure
children with a restraint system suitable for their
weight and height with the seat belt correctly

least 25 cm (approx. 10 inches) between the

Damaged seat belts increase the risk of serious
injury or death. If the fabric of the belt or other
parts of it are damaged, the belt could break in the
event of an accident or sudden braking.
— Position the seat back almost upright so that your
back rests completely on it.
· Never pinch the seat belt in the door or seat
mechanism, as this may cause damage.
— Move the seat as far back as possible so that the
airbag can best protect you if it is deployed.
